Alderman Raymond Lopez - Panelist 15th Ward Alderman, City of Chicago
Raymond Lopez has represented the 15th Ward on the Chicago City Council since May 2015. He has been appointed to numerous committees – Aviation; Committees and Rules; Contracting Oversight and Equity; Economic, Capital and Technology Development; Finance; Housing and Real Estate; Public Safety; Workforce Development; and Zoning, Landmarks and Building Standards – and was one of five aldermen to form the city’s first-ever LGBT Caucus.
A longtime resident of the Southwest Side of Chicago, Ald. Lopez grew up in Vittum Park and Sleepy Hollow. He now resides in Brighton Park with his partner. A graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago, Ald. Lopez holds degrees in English and political science. In representing the 15th Ward, he has been an ardent supporter of the Chicago Police Department and proponent of tough-on-crime policies. Ald. Lopez has also been an ally of the local real estate industry and unions including Unite Here Local 1. In addition, he has spearheaded numerous initiatives in support of animal rights.
