Jeffrey Michael - Panelist Horizon Realty Group
Jeffrey Michael is chief operating officer for Horizon Realty Group, a Chicago-based, multi-family residential real estate investment and management company. He is responsible for pursuing new acquisition and development opportunities, overseeing operational processes, ensuring overall legal compliance, and overseeing Horizon Realty Group’s extensive renovation and construction projects.
His primary focus is managing the firm’s investment properties, ensuring that his team provides its residents with exceptional service, and helping lead the business into its next phase of development and growth.
He joined the firm in 2001, bringing a determination to expand the company and an extensive array of modern business practices and procedures to advance Horizon Realty Group’s corporate efficiency to the next level. He has been instrumental in growing the firm’s portfolio from 10 properties and 600 units when he joined to 28 properties and over 2,400 units today.
Prior to joining Horizon Realty Group, he served as an associate attorney at the law firm of Altheimer & Grey from 1997 to 2001. In this role, he represented lending institutions, investors and developers located throughout the U.S. in complex financing and acquisition transactions.
He earned his BA in real estate from the University of Illinois-Champaign in 1994 and received his JD degree from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1997.
