Gregory T. Mutz is the Chairman and CEO of AMLI Residential Partners, LLC, a Chicago-based real estate company he co-founded in 1980 as AMLI Realty Co. AMLI split into two separate companies in 1993 — AMLI Residential and AMLI Commercial Properties. AMLI Residential Properties Trust became a public company in 1994 (NYSE:AML), while AMLI Commercial Properties remained a private company with institutional ownership and was sold in 2001 to a joint venture consisting of PRISA and Carl Panattoni. In 2006, AMLI was acquired by PRIME Property Fund, an institutional core real estate fund managed by Morgan Stanley Real Estate, Inc.
Prior to founding AMLI, Greg was an officer with White, Weld & Co., Inc., a New York-based investment banking firm (1976 to 1978), and associated with Mayer Brown, a Chicago-based international law firm (1973 to 1976). He received a bachelor’s degree from DePauw University in 1967 and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1973. Greg served with the Army in Vietnam as an infantry lieutenant from 1968 to 1969.
