Jean Dufresne -

Jean Dufresne, AIA, NCARB, is the founder and principal of Moth Architects, a boutique architecture studio in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.

Founded in 2024, Moth Architects is the next step in Jean’s successful career as an architect. He was previously the co-founder and principal of SPACE Architects + Planners for 21 years.

Having designed over 3,800 dwelling units, including numerous luxury single-family homes, historic renovations, religious structure conversions and multi-unit developments, Jean is well-versed in the Chicago and International codes and an expert in zoning and planning. He has worked with the city’s Department of Buildings on code interpretations and has also contributed to zoning code clarifications.

Outside of his day-to-day work, Jean has been involved with the American Institute of Architects at the local, state and national levels for two decades. He is the zoning chair for his neighborhood community group, a member of the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce Planning Committee, a member of the Chicago House Building Committee and the sponsor of the Dufresne E-IDEA Summer Internship Award in Architecture.

A proud Quebecois, Jean is an alum of McGill University.
