Jeff Shapack – Real Estate Forum – Panelist -
Jeff Shapack is the founder and CEO of Shapack Partners, a Chicago-based, multi-asset-class real estate development company focused on acquiring, developing, repositioning and investing in properties and neighborhoods. Over the past 26 years, Jeff has developed projects across the office, residential, hospitality, retail and restaurant sectors, bringing together acquisition, design, development, leasing and brand creation.
In 2010, Jeff began acquiring properties in Chicago’s Near West Side, before Fulton Market had emerged as a recognized neighborhood and development market. In 2013, he began pressing the city to recognize Fulton Market as a district rather than a corner of the West Loop. In 2014, Shapack Partners opened Soho House Chicago, whose 40 rooms were the first hotel keys in Fulton Market and proof that people would not just visit the neighborhood but stay in it. What Jeff assembled next was a mix of hospitality, food, design, art, culture, technology and commerce, built at rising density, that drew globally recognized retail brands, hotels, restaurants, startups, residents and corporate headquarters to the neighborhood.
In addition to Soho House, Shapack Partners’ developments include The Parker, The Hoxton, 811 Fulton, Stead 220 and 167 Green, Fulton Market’s largest office building to date, with an NBA-sized court. Today, the firm continues to invest in and shape Chicago neighborhoods, with new residential development in Fulton Market and the repositioning of a stretch of Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square.
Jeff is the recipient of the Lincoln Park Builders’ 2022 Impact Award and the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s 2023 Graaskamp Center Innovator Award. A University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate, he serves on the boards of World Business Chicago and the Chicago Architecture Center and Secure Community Network, and on the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Business Advisory Council. He is a member of the Commercial Club of Chicago.
