Michael Carney
Senior Vice President – Investment Research, Heitman

Mike Carney is a senior vice president in Heitman’s North American Investment Research group. In this role, he serves clients through all phases of the investment life cycle, from portfolio strategy creation and underwriting new investment opportunities to valuations and dispositions. Mike is responsible for analyzing demographic, macroeconomic, capital markets and property market fundamentals to support investment decision-making, with a focus in the healthcare and multifamily sectors.

Prior to joining Heitman in 2014, Mike was a member of SB Friedman Development Advisors, the Chicago real estate finance and urban planning consultancy. He started his career in the finance department of Burton Snowboards in Burlington, Vt. 

Mike received a Master of Science in urban planning and policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Bachelor of Science in business administration from Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, Vt. Mike sits on the Research Committee of the National Multifamily Housing Council and the Healthcare & Life Sciences Product Council of the Urban Land Institute. He is a member of Lambda Alpha International and serves on the board of directors for the Downtown Oak Park Business Alliance in his community of Oak Park, Ill.
